A client wanted the comb of his IOF .30-06 raised for scope use. He did not want to use a comb riser or spend money on a new stock. We decided to raise the comb by adding a piece of wood.
We sliced a portion of the top of the stock off, found a piece of wood which was close to the original stock in colour and grain and glued the pieces together. Wooden plugs were added inside to help reinforce the joint.
The wood was then sanded, stained and a hard wearing oil finish applied. The joint is visible but does not stand out like a sore thumb – a good economical solution.
